Buena Vista, VA - Under the Friday night lights, the Knights men's rugby team capped off their 15s season and sent off their seniors with a record breaking win over the University of Delaware.
The Knights scored quickly within the first minute after an error by the Blue Hens. The scoring would only continue from there, with the Knights running in 10 tries in the first half to take a 58-0 lead. The second half was much like the first, with the Knights scoring 9 tries to give them a 113-0 win.
The win set program records in points and tries scored, with 13 different Knights crossing the line.
Following the game, seniors Michael Golden, Gideon Wassum, and Ammon Uasila'a were honored by the University staff, and with a traditional Maori haka performed by their teammates and led by co head coach Marshall Ferris.
Tries were scored by Pone Aisea, Tye Tenorio (3) Tate Lewis (3), Apa Tokelau, Ammon Key, Wei Stanton, Zach Jones, Aston Jorgensen, Michael Golden (2), Nate Roeback (2), Sioeli Fakahua, Mikaera Puriri, and Calvin Fillmore. O'Shea Settle made 7 conversions, with Wei Stanton and Gideon Wassum both adding one conversion each.
The Knights will now prepare for their upcoming 7s season, with their first tournament being the Mooseman 7s in Tennessee on April 6th.
