Southern Virginia Tom Peterson Earns Men's Volleyball Region III Coach of the Year Honors

Buena Vista, VA - The AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) has unveiled its 2024 Division III Men's Volleyball All-Region teams and award recipients, spotlighting outstanding achievements in the sport.

Tom Peterson, the esteemed Head Coach of Men's Volleyball at Southern Virginia University, has been honored as the 2024 AVCA Men's Division III Regional Coach of the Year. Peterson's leadership has been instrumental in guiding his team to consistent success, maintaining a top-10 ranking throughout the season and a perfect 26-0 which saw the Knights elevate to #1 in the nation for the very first time. 

In addition to this prestigious regional recognition, Peterson also earns well-deserved accolades as the Continental Volleyball Conference Coach of the Year. This honor comes on the heels of a remarkable milestone - Peterson's 500th career coaching win. With an impressive record of 151-34 for Southern Virginia, Peterson's coaching prowess is undeniable. This marks Peterson's fourth Coach of the Year title in the CVC, adding to his impressive list of achievements in 2023, 2021, and 2019.

Peterson's coaching legacy is further solidified by his exceptional 154-35 record as head coach for the Knights. His remarkable achievements make him one of the most decorated and well-respected volleyball coaches in the country.
