Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Southern Virginia women's tennis team concluded their journey at the 2024 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament, where top-seeded and host, N.C. Wesleyan, claimed the title with a 5-1 victory over the second-seeded Knights.
N.C. Wesleyan surged ahead early with a clean sweep in doubles action, putting Southern Virginia at a disadvantage from the start.
Despite the team's overall outcome, Paula Snelson delivered a commendable performance, securing the lone singles victory for the Knights while competing in the number-one spot. Unfortunately, the remaining three singles matches went unfinished.
Despite falling short in the championship match, the Knights showcased remarkable talent in their debut appearance at the USA South Championship. Lia Savage and Paula Snelson's contributions earned them recognition in the All-Tournament Team.
With a season record of 16-3, Southern Virginia looks ahead to the future with optimism, anticipating further growth and development for their young team.
