Bridgewater, VA – The Southern Virginia University football team suffered a tough 0-80 loss to the Eagles of Bridgewater College this past weekend.
Bridgewater came out strong, taking control early with a commanding 28-0 lead in the first quarter. The Eagles continued their dominance into the second quarter, with Wyatt Jervis and Cedric Drumgoole each scoring two touchdowns.
Though the pace of scoring slowed in the second half, Bridgewater maintained their momentum throughout the game.
The Knights struggled offensively, particularly in the passing game, completing just 12 of 32 attempts with four interceptions. However, there was some diversity in the run game, with eight different players rushing. Tyreeck Hall led the Knights with 37 yards on eight attempts, averaging 4.3 yards per carry.
On defense, Kutlur Matheson brought energy once again, recording 13 tackles, a forced fumble, and a QB hurry.
Despite Southern Virginia's efforts, the Eagles capitalized on every opportunity, closing out the game with an 80-0 victory.
