MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team continued its dominant conference run, improving to 7-0 in USA South play and 8-5-1 overall, with a commanding 7-0 win over Pfeiffer University — powered by a hat trick from Delin Peterson.
The Knights opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Emily Rosenbaum sent a pass ahead to a breaking Peterson, who drew the defense before dishing it to Xoie Warner for the first goal of the match.
Moments later, Addison Newman was tripped inside the box, setting up Hailey Gadd for a penalty kick, which she calmly buried in the bottom right corner for her third goal of the year.
Southern Virginia struck again in the 32nd minute when Peterson netted her first goal of the day on a pass from Lucy Skidmore. She added another before halftime to send the Knights into the break with a 4-0 lead.
The second half saw more of the same, as Peterson completed her hat trick in the 48th minute on an assist from Courtney Montes. McKenna Currey added a goal in the 63rd minute, and Desana Grabarczyk capped the scoring in the 83rd to secure the 7-0 victory.
The Knights outshot the Falcons 26-3 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, Chloë Miller and Ruth Sumner combined for the shutout, with Miller recording two saves.
A total of 23 different Knights saw action, highlighting the team's depth in the convincing win.
Southern Virginia returns home for its final non-conference match against Regent University on Wednesday, October 22nd, holding a 2-0 all-time advantage over the Royals.
