SPARTANBURG, S.C. - On the sports biggest stage at the collegiate level, Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong of the Southern Virginia University women's cross country team delivered an excellent performance in her first NCAA Division lll Championship appearance.
Despite the warm November weather, the field of nearly 300 athletes was unfazed at the start and opened the race at a blistering pace.
Redd-Armstrong, however, raced within herself and used a strong second half to nearly crack the top 100 by the time she crossed the finish line.
Familiar with the course, she navigated her way through the rolling South Carolina hills with poise and consistency. From the first one kilometer checkpoint through the finish she had passed a whopping 140 runners to finish 105th in a time of 22:47.

Bayleigh's time is also a minute faster than what she clocked on the same course four seasons ago at the South Regional Championship. With the indoor season on deck, she'll look to make her way to more championship meets in the near future.
