BUENA VISTA, Va. - Back on the court after a seven day hiatus, the Southern Virginia University women's basketball team defeated Mary Washington on their home court, earning a 54-42 victory.
After giving up the first two buckets of the game, the Knights were dominant the rest of the first half, particularly in the opening quarter.
Abigail Snyder recorded nine points in the opening frame to help the Knights open a 24-11 advantage. Aysia Foster also tallied a couple of baskets in the paint to help keep the momentum in Southern Virginia's favor.
By the end of the first half, the Knights managed to increase their lead after a layup from Anna Kimball to enter the locker room with a 37-21 advantage.

In the final two quarters, both teams struggled from the field, but Southern Virginia's lead was large enough for them to hang on for an important non-conference win.
Anna Kimball was dominant on the boards again, finishing with 13 boards while Abigail Snyder led the defensive effort with six steals in addition to her team leading 17 points. Maria Savvun added a few three-pointers at key points of the game to secure the win.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will take another lengthy break from competition, but will resume their four game homestand on Monday, December 15th against North Carolina Wesleyan. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM.
