Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia University baseball team kicked off their three-game series against Brevard College in thrilling fashion on Friday afternoon, securing a 4-2 walk-off victory at home.
For most of the game, both teams battled in a defensive deadlock, with the score remaining tied through six innings. The Tornados broke the stalemate with a run in the top of the seventh, but Southern Virginia wasted no time responding.
Ryan Farris ignited the Knights' offense with a clutch RBI double to center field, tying the game at 1-1. Shortly after,
Stockton Hall lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, giving the Knights their first lead of the day at 2-1.
Brevard didn't go down quietly, evening the score at 2-2 in the ninth inning. With the game on the line, Hall took the mound and needed just one batter to close out the frame, keeping the Knights in position for a dramatic finish.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the prospect of extra innings looming, Hall stepped up to the plate and delivered the decisive blow—crushing a two-run walk-off homer to send the Knights home victorious.
Southern Virginia will look to build on their momentum as they continue their series against Brevard on Saturday, March 15, in Buena Vista, Virginia.
