Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team dominated in their home match against Meredith College, securing a commanding 7-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Complex. The win improves the Knights' record to 3-3 on the season and give the team a great start to conference competition.
Southern Virginia set the tone early, sweeping all three doubles matches. The duo of Paula Snelson and Natalia Molanphy made quick work of their opponents, winning 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Remly Fry and Jillian Arnold followed suit with a dominant 6-0 victory at No. 2, while Elizabeth Ursenback and Hailey Seamons outlasted their challengers at No. 3, clinching a 7-5 win.
The Knights carried their momentum into singles play, sweeping all six matches in straight sets. Snelson continued her stellar play, shutting out her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Lydia Delich battled through a close first set before pulling away for a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Arnold, Fry, Molanphy, and Sadie Walton rounded out the dominant performance, each securing straight-set wins to complete the shutout.
