Ferrum, Va. – The Southern Virginia University baseball team battled in a tightly contested matchup against Ferrum University on Tuesday but fell short in the final innings, losing 7-6 on a walk-off single.

The Knights found themselves in an early 4-0 deficit but quickly responded behind a clutch performance from Seth Lloyd. With two outs and the bases loaded, Lloyd delivered a game-tying grand slam, evening the score at 4-4 and shifting momentum in Southern Virginia's favor.

After Ferrum regained a slight 5-4 lead, Stockton Hall stepped up in the top of the sixth and crushed a double to right field, bringing home two runs to put the Knights ahead 6-5.

Southern Virginia's defense remained steady, with David Hunley recording six putouts from center field and Robert Stempin adding four from behind the plate. However, Ferrum managed to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh before sealing the victory with a walk-off single in the ninth.

The Knights will look to bounce back as they head to Virginia Wesleyan University for a three-game series on March 21-22.
