Buena Vista, Va. - The Southern Virginia University Baseball team finished up its three game series against William Peace University on Tuesday. The Knights dropped their third game to the Pacers, losing 20-4.
The Knights bested the Pacers in the first two games of the series, but failed to close out with a sweep. The game was a slower start for the Knights, who fell behind 6-0 in the top of the first. Southern Virginia responded with three of their own after two hits hammered past the infield. Zack Geertsen doubled to left center to bring in one run. Then Stockton Hall smoked a single to the left side to record two RBIs and end the first down 6-3.
William Peace added a few more runs coming into the seventh, leaving the Knights down 20-3. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, Brooks Burdette was walked and brought in Southern Virginia's final run of the game. The Knights ended with a 20-4 loss.Â
Next, the Knights hit the road for a single game matchup with the Newport News Apprentice School on April 15.Â
