Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team continued their strong conference form with a commanding 6-1 road victory over Salem College on Wednesday afternoon at the Bert Lain Tennis Center. The win improves the Knights to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in USA South Conference play.
The Knights opened the match with energy and precision in doubles play. The No. 1 pairing of Paula Snelson and Remly Fry delivered a hard-fought 7-5 victory over Adley Keim and Cymone Crump, setting the tone for the afternoon. On court two, Jillian Arnold and Lydia Delich dominated their matchup, blanking their opponents 6-0 to secure the doubles point for Southern Virginia.
In singles action, the Knights continued to roll. At the top spot, Snelson improved to 9-1 in the #1 singles spot this season by overpowering her opponent 6-0, 6-1 to notch her second victory of the day. Delich bounced back from a first-set loss to win in a super tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4, at the No. 2 position.
Sarah Amato and Remly Fry added straight-set wins at courts three and four, while Natalia Molanphy contributed a solid 6-0, 6-4 effort at No. 5 singles. The Spirits managed their lone point at the No. 6 spot, where Emily Buckler edged Hailey Seamons in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-0, 10-7.
The victory continues a surge of momentum for the Knights, who are now undefeated in conference play heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Southern Virginia will take a break for conference action for their final non-conference of the season on the road at Johnson & Wales University (N.C.) on Monday, April 14th.
