Knights Keep Rolling; Southern Virginia Women’s Basketball Overwhelms Greensboro, 83-54

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team stuck to their winning ways on Tuesday evening, defeating Greensboro College on the road to collect a seventh straight win, 83-54.

The Knights were efficient shooters in the first half, connecting on over 50% of their shots from the floor in each of the first two quarters.

Maria Savvun shot early and often to lead a vaunted Knights attack which proved too much for the Pride. Savvun connected on three triples in the first half as she had 13 points before the halftime break.

The frontcourt duo of Anna Kimball and Aysia Foster combined for six blocks and 20 rebounds to control the paint.

The guards did their job on the perimeter as well. Abigail Snyder, Lily Delarosa, and Kensey Peterson each recorded multiple steals to help the team tally 20 on the day.

Southern Virginia's lead grew steadily until the final buzzer, marking their seventh consecutive win putting them at a perfect 10-0 against USA South opponents.

Savvun nearly notched a career high in points, finishing with 22 thanks to five three-pointers. Snyder and Kimball each recorded a double-double for the first place Knights.

Looking Ahead

A major conference showdown is on tap for this Saturday, January 24th at 2:00 PM in North Carolina. In a rematch of last year's USA South title game, the Knights take on Brevard College.

Southern Virginia holds a seven game win streak over the Tornados, dating back to January of 2023.
