STAUNTON, Va. - The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team got back to their winning ways by defeating Mary Baldwin on the road in three quick sets.
Summer Hahn and Ryann Vail each tallied six blocks to overwhelm the Fighting Squirrels attack. The Knights rattled off seven of the last eight points to claim the opening set.
Macie Weatherly had a good stretch of production in the second, helping Southern Virginia remain in the driver's seat. Weatherly posted seven kills along with a couple of blocks.
The third and eventual final set was the closest, but still a double-digit triumph for the Knights to close things out in short order.
Baylee Mirabal, Anne Downs, and Laura Forsgren each finished in double-figures for digs and Chloe Murray dished out 28 assists as Southern Virginia moved to 9-4 against conference opponents.
Looking Ahead
The Knights will participate in a key tri-match on Saturday with other heavy-hitters in the USA South. They'll face Salem in the morning, followed by William Peace during one of the afternoon tilts.
