LEXINGTON, Va. - Back in Holekamp Gymnasium for a crack at the 2026 CVC Championship, the Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team fell in three sets to Juniata, ending their quest for a third consecutive conference title.
The first set went down to the wire. Southern Virginia, who fell behind late, attempted to complete a dramatic comeback. However, the Eagles staved them off for a 25-22 victory to grab the set lead.
The teams traded points in a thrilling second set until Juniata assumed control, scoring the final six points to put the defending champs on the brink of defeat.
With the momentum in their favor, Juniata put the Knights away in the third to clinch their first CVC title since 2023.
Tommy Forese led Southern Virginia in kills with 11, hitting a team best .296. Overall, the team struggled on the attack, hitting just .067 compared to Juniata's .317.
Gehrig Tolman and David Ward were selected to the CVC All-Tournament team, while Will Sierer of Juniata was named the tournament's most valuable player.
