BUENA VISTA, Va. - Looking to clinch a fifth consecutive berth in the conference semifinal, the Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team hosted Pfeiffer in the first round of the USA South tournament.
After a back and forth first three quarters, the Knights assumed control of the game with a strong final frame. A shutout in the fourth helped eliminate the Falcons from postseason play after a 12-7 victory for the Knights.
Paysen Grandy got the Knights on the board first just over a minute after the opening draw. A defensive-minded start from both teams led to a low-scoring opening frame, but the Knights managed to pot a couple of more goals to lead 3-1 after fifteen minutes.
In the third quarter, Pfeiffer scored four of five goals to suddenly take the lead. However, May Webb and the Knights responded with the next three goals to reclaim their advantage.

Webb totaled four goals at key moments to lead Southern Virginia's attack. Ultimately, the defense helped secure another tournament win for the Knights as Savanna Burnett made four saves and shutout out the Falcons in the final quarter.
Sydney Bastian and Ellie Patterson combined to cause 11 turnovers and stymie Pfeiffer's attack. The Knights are undefeated under Head Coach Olivia Cope in first round games
