Southern Virginia Men’s Golf’s Nikko Taggart Tied for Fifth After Two Rounds at NCAA Championships

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. – Southern Virginia University men's golfer Nikko Taggart sits tied for fifth place after the opening two rounds of the NCAA Championships.

Taggart successfully advanced past the first cut of the tournament, as the field was narrowed from 43 teams and 10 individual competitors down to just 18 teams and the top six individuals heading into the final rounds.

Through 36 holes, Taggart is at 4-under par and firmly in contention for the individual title.

Weather impacted the opening day of competition, as light rain and lightning in the area delayed play during the second wave. Because of the suspension, Taggart completed only nine holes on day one before returning to finish the remainder of his round the following day.

Taggart responded with an impressive second day, playing 27 holes while shooting 3-under par overall to position himself among the tournament leaders.

His second-round performance featured seven birdies as competition was split between the two courses at Mission Resort + Club.

Mission Resort + Club

  • Las Colinas Course (Par 71 | 6,820 yards)
  • El Campeón Course (Par 72 | 6,778 yards)
