Buena Vista, VA - The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team dropped its season-opening contest to nearby No. 7-ranked Washington and Lee University, 0-7.
The Generals took control early, scoring three goals in the opening 15 minutes, and added two more goals to take a 5-0 lead into halftime. The victory marked Washington and Lee's ninth straight win over Southern Virginia.
The Knights finished with eight saves and two shots in the contest.
Southern Virginia now hosts William Smith College on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. It will mark the first time in program history that the two teams have faced each other.
