Tom Bennett (Coach Be) enters his fourth year as assistant to Coach Schlegelmilch. Coach Bennett was a walk-on turned four-year starter at Gonzaga University, majoring in Art.

After Gonzaga, he played one year of professional baseball with the Butte Copper Kings. He then played in Brisbane, Australia for a season. Upon returning to the US, while traveling the country to find a team to play for, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served a mission in Munich, Germany at the age of 26.

Upon returning from his mission, Coach Bennett married and eventually settled in Brigham City, Utah, where he and his wife raised their five children. Following his retirement from his accounting career, he began coaching at Southern Virginia.

"I wanted to give back, serve, and have a positive impact on the people around me. I am forever grateful to Southern Virginia for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams and help others be the best they can be."
