Coach Will Ortiz brings a wealth of coaching experience and a deep passion for the game to Southern Virginia University. With a background deeply rooted in football and a commitment to excellence, Coach Ortiz is dedicated to developing the next generation of defensive backs while also playing a pivotal role in recruiting top talent to the program.
Before joining SVU, Coach Ortiz spent several years honing his craft at Timpview High School and Maple Mountain High School. At Timpview, he served as Assistant to the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Defensive Back Coach, contributing to the team's appearance in the 2022 5A State Championship. His expertise extended to Maple Mountain High School, where he served as the Corners Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator, showcasing his ability to mentor and lead defensive units.
Coach Ortiz's connection to SVU runs deep, having played for the university's football team for one year. His firsthand experience as a player adds invaluable insight and perspective to his coaching approach, allowing him to relate to and inspire his athletes on a personal level.
Coach Ortiz enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his interests off the field. He and his wife Kendall, who have been married for three years, eagerly await their first child's arrival and share their home with two beloved dogs.
He is deeply rooted in his faith, having served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Little Rock, Arkansas. Coach Ortiz embodies a well-rounded approach to coaching and life. His infectious passion for the game and genuine care for his players make him an invaluable asset to the SVU football program.
