Blair Garner is the head men's golf coach, he will be entering his tenth season at Southern Virginia University.
In both the golf programs and his first year, Garner lead the Knights women's team to a third place finish at the Capital Athletic Conference Championship, while the men placed sixth.
This past season, The men’s team was ranked as high as 19 and finished at 32. The women finished ranked at 42. The highest rankings for both programs. This past season, the Knights sent there first players to the national tournament.
During his time at Bonneville, Garner was also active with the men’s golf team serving as assistant coach for ten seasons and head coach for two seasons. Over that period, Bonneville’s men’s golf team secured six regional titles, two state titles, and ten top-five state tournament finishes.
Prior to his time at Bonneville, Garner coached golf at Durango High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, Minico High School in Rupert, Idaho and helped start the men’s and women’s golf programs at Oakley High School in Oakley, Idaho. Throughout his 27-year career as a high school coach, Garner coached 63 sport seasons between basketball, football and golf.
Garner and his wife, Julie, have three children — all successful athletes in their own rights. Their oldest son, Davis, was a two-time collegiate All-American golfer and is currently the the general manager of Whispering Woods Golf Course in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Connor, their second son, was a basketball player at Utah State University, and is an actuary living in Chesterfield, ID. And their youngest daughter, Lea, was a four-time All-Conference golfer at Brigham Young University, and was recently named the head women’s golf coach for Southern Virginia University.
Garner earned his bachelor’s degree from Utah State in 1991 and his master’s in athletic administration from Idaho State University in 2000.
