Southern Virginia University

In May of 2019, Jennifer Jensen was named Head Coach for the inaugural season of the Southern Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming teams.

Under her leadership, the Knights have claimed team conference championships nearly every season. The men and women each claimed the team title in 2022, and most recently, the women’s team claimed the 2025 Independent South Championship while Coach Jenn was named Women’s Coach of the Year.

She’s helped guide dozens of athletes to individual titles as well as All-State recognition. In the Independent South Conference, 34 of the 36 conference championship event records are held by Southern Virginia University. The team has also consistently produced NCAA Academic-All Americans.

As an athlete, Jennifer Jensen competed at Brigham Young University from 1990-94 where she specialized in the backstroke and IM. She served as the team's captain (1992-94) and helped lead the Cougars to three Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Spain, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health Education and Physical Education, Coaching in 1997. 

In 2002, she completed the coursework for a Master's degree in Coaching from the United States Sports Academy.  In 2022, she received a Master's of Science degree from Goodwin University in Organizational Leadership.

Before joining the Southern Virginia University athletics staff, Coach Jenn coached for one of Utah's premier USA Swimming clubs, Utah Valley Aquatics, where she served as an assistant coach and worked with the club's top athletes, including national and junior-national qualifiers. 

She has previously coached the Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team (HAST) and masters swimming, as well as Dimple Dell Fitness Center, PQAC Rancho Pensasquitos Aquatic Club, Springville High School, and the Springville Seals Aquatics Team.

She is the mother of three children, Collin, Connor and Breanne Moore, who have all swam for Southern Virginia. She is newly married to Kevin Jensen, who has 4 children, which makes her a new grandma to 8.  This has led to one of her most exciting and recently achieved goals of being a grandma who can do a pull-up.
