Since the program's inception, Russell Tompkins has served as a volunteer assistant coach of the men's volleyball team at Southern Virginia University.
Tompkins is a graduate of Utah State University with a BA in Economics and Political Science, and a minor in Spanish. He was a member of the first Men's Volleyball Club Team at Utah State. He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chile, and presently serves as an ordinance worker in the Richmond Virginia Temple.
Tompkins was the owner of two institutional investment advisory firms until his retirement from Wall Street in 2008.
He is married to Jeanne Tompkins, and together they have nine children and 23 grandchildren. They reside in Buena vista, Virginia.
