Sheryl Peterson has served as assistant men's volleyball coach and director of operations at Southern Virginia University since 2023.
Peterson assists with hitting, setting statistics, and overall program operations including recruiting, scheduling, travel, and academics. She supported the team in earning the 2024 AVCA Team Academic Award and achieving the top men's team GPA at Southern Virginia during the 2023-2024 school year. She also helped spearhead the program's first alumni weekend in October 2023.
Peterson has worked as director of the Mountain West Juniors Volleyball Club (Cache Valley, UT), director of BYU Men's Volleyball sport camps and director of the Lobo Volleyball League (Albuquerque, NM) - one of the largest recreational volleyball leagues in the country. She is currently co-director of Top Court Camps, a company specializing in volleyball camps throughout the United States.
Outside of athletics, Peterson has worked in the financial services industry and as communications specialist for the University of Utah Seismograph Stations. Most recently she served as director of advancement operations at Southern Virginia University.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Utah and a Master of Professional Communication degree from Weber State University (Thesis: Exploring Athlete Perception of Coach Communicator Style).
Peterson served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Korea Seoul West and Taejon Missions.
