Russell Banz is the assistant golf coach for both the men's and women's golf teams.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at Southern Virginia University, Banz coached at both West and East high schools in Salt Lake City, and has over 10 years of service on the board of directors of the Utah Junior Golf Association. Banz is currently a golf instructor for the Salt Lake City Golf Division.
Banz has also been a leader in the media industry for over 20 years. He was responsible for originally launching KSL.com and the KSL Classifieds and was recognized as one of Utah’s “40 Under 40” business leaders for growing KSL.com into one of the nation’s largest local media web sites.
Russell and his wife Tara have four children that have all played or will play collegiate golf — Austin (BYU), Hayden (Weber State), Whitney (Westminster, currently serving mission in Thailand), and Sierra “CC” (SVU).
Banz has an MBA from the University of Utah and a BS in Management, cum laude from Brigham Young University.
