Tom Snelson

Thomas Snelson is in his tenth season as the Head Coach of the men's tennis team and his sixth season leading the women's team. 

Snelson led the Knights to a 17-5 overall record, the most wins in Knights' tennis history. The Knights finished fourth in CAC playoffs. 

In his first year, he led the men's tennis team to a first-round win in the CAC playoffs, recording the first post-season win for any Southern Virginia program. During the 2016-17 season, Snelson led the team to their second consecutive appearance in the CAC playoffs.

Snelson graduated from Brigham Young University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science.  While in school, he played #2 singles and doubles for the BYU tennis team. As a senior, he helped the Cougars reach the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA.

Currently, Snelson holds professional ratings in the Professional Tennis Registry for adult development, high performance, 11-17, and 10 & under. He was a high school coach for three years and has spent four years as a private tennis coach. 

Snelson was married to his wife Monique in 1987. They are the proud parents of five children, all tennis players. His oldest son played at BYU-Hawaii and has a daughter currently playing at Auburn University.
