Camden Read

Camden Read joined the Southern Virginia University men's soccer staff ahead if the 2025 season. Camden has dedicated his life to sports, both as a player and a coach, growing a deep understanding and appreciation for the mental fortitude required to excel. He captained his Pleasant Grove High School soccer team to the 6A High School State Championship in 2018, showcasing his leadership skills and competitive edge. His experience on the field has been complemented by his commitment to coaching, spending three years with Utah Celtic FC where he nurtured young talents and developed their skills.

Beyond his practical experience, Camden has had the privilege of working closely with renowned Sport Psychologists and Mental Performance Coaches like Dr. Craig Manning, the Director of Mental Performance at BYU and Performance Psychologist for the Milwaukee Bucks and Utah Jazz, Dr. Carrie Hastings, the Sport Psychologist for the Los Angeles Rams and Angel City Football Club, as well as Braden Brown, former BYU/NFL athlete and Associate Athletic Director of Mental Health at BYU. This collaboration has enriched his knowledge of mental performance strategies, allowing him to integrate proven psychological techniques into his coaching.

Prior to his arrival at SVU, he completed his Bachelors degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University. Camden is now pursuing a Masters degree in Sport Psychology while coaching at Southern Virginia University. He also works as a Mental Performance Coach with MOTYV8, helping make world class mental performance training available to all teams and athletes, not just the elite. He is passionate about helping others thrive by mastering their mind.

He and his wife, Erika, have been married for a year and are loving life on the east coast.
