Kolby Kemp

Kolby Kemp was named Head Coach of the Southern Virginia University softball team in the summer of 2026.

Kemp takes over the program after serving as an assistant coach at Southern Virginia for the past four seasons. During his time with the Knights, he helped develop 15 USA South All-Conference selections while playing a key role in player development, recruiting, and program growth.

In 1993, Kemp played fast-pitch softball in Salt Lake City, Utah and was a member of the United States National team. His experience with the team allowed him to create a network with the best players and coaches in the game.

Prior to joining the Southern Virginia staff, Kemp spent the previous ten years coaching top travel ball teams in Utah, winning multiple state titles and making several appearances in the National Championship. He sent dozens of student-athletes to college softball programs around the country from Division l to Division lll. He is also an accomplished umpire having worked the 2021 Utah State High School championship game and umpiring at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Coach Kemp grew up in South Jordan, Utah and graduated from Bingham High School. Later, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Campinas, Brazil and graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Communications. 

He is married to his wife, Heather, and has a daughter, Krystal, and a son, Kenyon. In his free time he loves to cook, golf, and fish, which includes managing his own fishing pond on his property.
