Nate Casperson

Nate Casperson has been the head men’s wrestling coach atSouthern Virginia University since 2007.

Southern Virginia wrestling has achieved top-20 finishes in theNational Collegiate Wrestling Association during three out ofCasperson’s four years, tying for 17th in 2008, placing 12thin 2009 and 15th in 2010. Under Casperson’s tutelage,Southern Virginia standout wrestler and four-time NCWAAll-American, Peter Rose, won three consecutive NCWA nationalchampionships from 2008-2010.

Before coming to Southern Virginia in 2007, Casperson was anassistant wrestling coach at his alma mater, Pine View High School,in St. George, Utah, from 2005-2007. During Casperson’s twoseasons at Pine View, the Panthers finished runners-up at regionalsin 2006, followed by a regional championship in 2007.

As a member of Southern Virginia’s first men’swrestling team during the 1999-2000 academic year, Capserson wenton to capture the university’s first NCWA individual nationalchampionship competing in the 149-lb. weight class.

Following his national championship season at Southern Virginia,Casperson transferred to Missouri Valley College where he completedhis wrestling eligibility. He graduated magna cum laude fromMissouri Valley in 2005 with a B.A. in elementary education.

Casperson served a fulltime mission for The Church of JesusChrist of Latter-day Saints in Argentina.

He resides in Buena Vista, Va., with his wife and threechildren.
