Tom Longenecker is Athletic Director & Men's Head CoachSoccer for Southern Virginia University.

He joined the athletic department in 2003 as the footballdefensive coordinator and director of athletic development. Priorto joining the staff, Longenecker enjoyed 15 successful years ofcoaching high school football in Utah. After one season of coachingthe Knights, President Rodney Smith named Longenecker the athleticdirector on July 1, 2004. Longenecker has 25 years experience inbusiness and athletic development. Under Longenecker’sdirection, the athletic department has added new team facilities,an equipment room and a varsity basketball court and developedplans for a cardiovascular facility and an emerging outdoorpractice field design program.

Under Longenecker’s watch, the athletic department hasgrown from 13 to 17 teams and claimed six USCAA NationalChampionships. He has supervised the creation of the sportsinformation director, assistant and associate athletic directorpositions, which allow for better development and growth infacilities, financing and organization. Each of these areas ofgrowth are attributable to the help of friends and donors of theuniversity. Longenecker graduated from Brigham Young Universitywith a bachelor’s degree in 1978. He is married to Sandra andthey have eight children.
