FERRUM, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's basketball team lost a closely contested battle on Tuesday night in a non-conference road game at Ferrum College. The Knights fell to the Panthers 84-75.
With a 10-point halftime lead Ferrum (4-4) was able to hold off the Knights' (3-5, 2-0 CAC) second-half run.
Southern Virginia was led by senior forward David Baety, who ended with 15 points and nine rebounds. Three other Knights scored double-digits; Anders Jacobson tallied 14 points and seven rebounds, and from the bench Aarun Rumbaugh and Cale Thornton chipped in 13 and 12, respectively.
Both teams shot 50% or better from the field and Ferrum drained 18 threes compared to the Knights' seven.
Southern Virginia heads to Wesley College on Friday for a Capital Athletic Conference matchup set to begin at 2 p.m. in Dover, Delaware.
