BUENA VISTA, Va.—Seniors Kevin Walker and David Baety combined for 24 second-half points to lead the Knights to a 78-76 Capital Athletic Conference victory over the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday in the Knight Sports Arena.
Walker scored a team-high 20 points, including the game-winning three pointer with 13 seconds left to give the Knights a two-point lead. He also recorded five rebounds, four assists, and four steals and leads the conference in steals.
David Baety scored 18 points and recorded seven rebounds to assist the Knights (6-10, 5-4 CAC). Freshman Nate Adamson added 13 points and five rebounds.
Southern Virginia shot a season high of 51.9% from the field compared to the Eagles' (7-9, 3-6 CAC) 35.2%. The Knights were ahead by as much as 19 points with 13 minutes left in the game. Mary Washington shot 89.2% from the line and had 30 of their 37 free throws in the second half.
The Knights host Wesley College on Saturday, January 23 at 3 p.m.
