Knights Fall Short Against Eagles

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's basketball team fell short against the University of Mary Washington, 87-73.

The Knights (9-15, 8-9 CAC) took an early 18-8 lead in the first half but the Eagles (13-11, 9-8) made a late run to take the 42-36 lead going into halftime. The Eagles kept the lead for the remainder of the game.

Senior David Baety led the Knights with 21 points and tied his season high of 10 rebounds. Anders Jacobson scored 14 points and recorded five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Justin Langford scored 13 points on 6-9 from the field and recorded two blocks. Kevin Walker scored 11 and picked up five assists and four rebounds.

Southern Virginia shot 38.9% from the field compared to Mary Washington's 49.2%.

The Knights are currently tied for fourth place in the Capital Athletic Conference with St. Mary's of Maryland behind Christopher Newport, Salisbury, and Mary Washington. They must win on Saturday to have a chance at third place. 

In their final regular season game Southern Virginia will play at York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, February 20 at 3 p.m.
