Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Southern Virginia University men's basketball finished the Roger Taylor Invitational Saturday afternoon, where they fell 80-68 to the Apprentice School.
In the first half, the Knights (2-5) struggled offensively, shooting 18.2 percent from behind the arc while going 25 percent from the charity stripe. Southern Virginia would go into the half trailing by 10 points, 35-25.
The Builders (5-2) would fend off the Knights in the second half with Marion Moore scoring 20 of his 37 points in the game. The Knights shooting would slightly improve but still play a role in the Knights ability to get within striking distance.
The Knights would shoot 41.5 percent for the game from the field, from deep 21.7 percent on 5-23 and 9-21 from the free throw line. The Builders would shoot at a 49.2 percent clip.
For the Knights, Cross would lead the team in scoring and steals with 19 and four. Alec Johnson would put in 14 points along with team-high four assists and would be named to the All-Tournament team. Trey Dill also hit double figures scoring 10 points and also collected seven rebounds. Michael Neufville led the Knights on the boards with a career-high 11 rebounds.
The Knights will have nearly a week off before they will play in front of their home crowd Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. in Knight Sports Arena.
