WINSTON-SALEM, VA. — The Southern Virginia University Women's Soccer team traveled to Salem College, Tuesday night, to take on the Spiriits in a league matchup on Varsity Field. After 90 minutes, the Knights claimed the 4-2 victory, improving their conference record to 2-1-1.
How It Happened:
Salem got on the board first after the Spirits converted a penalty kick in the 11
th minute of the game by Ashley Linden.
Morgan Romney and
Madison Sollis took matters into her own hands, scoring back-to-back goals in the 23
rd and 52
nd minutes of the game, leading the Knights to a 2-1 advantage.
Matia Murray assisted Romney on the first goal.
Salem used their corner kick opportunity in the 70
th minute of the game, connecting with Darilyn Nieto to knotting the game at two.
Five minutes later, freshman
Hailey Gadd scored her first career goal, capitalizing on two consecutive corner kick chances, putting the team back on top 3-2 with 20 minutes remaining in the match.
In the final minutes of the game,
Morgan Romney locked in the team's victory, scoring her fourth goal of the season, cementing the team's 4-2 win over the Spirits.

Southern Virginia returns to Knight Stadium on Friday, October 14, welcoming the Falcons of Pfeiffer University to town for a USA South Conference showdown. Game time is set for 6 pm.
