GREENSBORO, NC. — The Southern Virginia University Women's Soccer team traveled to Greensboro College Wednesday night, taking on the Pride in a USA South matchup. The Knights improved 4-1-1 in conference play, extending their winning streak to three games with a 1-0 victory.
Southern Virginia maintained the time of possession in the first half, getting off six shots in the first 25 minutes. At the end of the half, the Knights outshot the Pride 7-2, with goalkeeper
Alyssa Trueman making a clutch save off a shot heading towards the top right corner, keeping the games knotted at zero.
Just two minutes into the second half,
Matia Murray connected with
Maybel Harris, who fired a shot past the Pride goalkeeper, scoring her third goal of the season, putting the team up 1-0.
Southern Virginia's defense held their ground the remainder of the match, only allowing two shots in the second, with Trueman recording another save to maintain the Knights' lead.
Staying on the road, Southern Virginia travels back to North Carolina on Saturday, October 22, taking on William Peace. Game time is set for 7 pm.
