BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team battles Pfeiffer on Saturday evening in a match that includes important playoff implications.

The conference opponents face off for just the second time with the teams meeting last year. The Falcons came away with the victory and the Knights will hope to even the overall series with a win on Saturday.

Currently the programs are tied for sixth in the USA South Athletic Conference standings with only the top six advancing to the postseason. Pfeiffer holds the tiebreaker maintaining the superior goal differential putting Southern Virginia in a must-win scenario on senior night.

Seniors being honored include Sam Melo and Spencer Young who are both four-year members of the program. The team will hope to give the seniors one las win at Knights Stadium and the opportunity to play at least one more game.

"There will certainly be an added energy for senior night," exclaimed head coach Payden Pemberton. "I am proud to honor these two seniors. It will give us a good extra lift!"

Southern Virginia is coming off a win over Mary Baldwin on Wednesday. Colton Oman scored a goal in the 90^th minute to give his team a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

"The last-minute winner gives us all the confidence we need," continued coach Pemberton. "It caps off the progress we have made over the season and shows the teams resilience in the face of adversity."

"Our game plan stays the same because we are confident in how we have trained this whole season and our preparations heading into these last couple weeks. However, we have contingency plans in place to push for a game winning goal when needed. We also know that Pfeiffer could change their style since they know all they need is a tie, they don't have to win, and we are ready for them to potentially change the way they play as well."
