DANVILLE, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team concluded their season, taking on Averett University in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The Knights were unable to advance, falling to the Cougars 63-55.

• Southern Virginia started out the first half strong, outscoring Averett 30-28
• Elliot Spencer led all players with ten points, along with one block, one steal, and one assist
• Malakai Olson followed Spencer closely, recording eight points in the first half while recording three rebounds and two assists
• Conner Marchant and Jesse Barker rounded out the starters, adding five points each
• Coming off of the bench, Brandin Ziegler added a bucket to the team's total
• Malakai Olson stayed consistent in the second half with eight points, while Conner Marchant matched Olson with eight points of his own 
• Off of the bench, Kade Harrick heated up with seven points to lead all bench players
• Averett's strong second-half surge led the Cougars to the 63-55 win to advance to the next round of the playoffs
• The Knights ended the match shooting 42.3 percent from the field, and 30.4 percent from behind the arc

Southern Virginia will look to build upon the best season in their Division III era, looking to make a strong run at next year's conference championship.
