BRIDGEWATER, VA. — The Southern Virginia University Football team traveled to Bridgewater College Saturday afternoon for the team's second game of the year. The Knights were unable to come away with the victory, falling to the Eagles 58-10.
 
First Quarter

• Southern Virginia's defense stood tall in the first quarter, forcing a Bridgewater punt on their first drive
• The Eagles returned the favor, standing their ground and forcing the Knights to punt on their first drive
• Bridgewater gained momentum at the end of the first, recording their first interception, picking off Shumway
• Both teams were held scoreless in the first quarter, heading into the second knotted at zero

Second Quarter

• Bridgewater pulled away from Southern Virginia in the second quarter, scoring two consecutive touchdowns to go up 14-0 with ten minutes remaining in the second
• The Eagles' first touchdown came off a Kennedy Fauntleroy 13-yard run while the second resulted in a Malcolm Anderson eight-yard touchdown run
• Southern earned their first points of the game with under two minutes remaining in the half, driving down the field to set up Mike Brown for a 40-yard field goal attempt
• On his first attempt with the team, Brown drained the field goal, making the new score 14-3
• The Eagles did not let the Knights celebrate long, returning the ensuing kickoff 88 yards to the house for the touchdown, putting them up 21-10
• With over one minute remaining in the half, Southern Virginia marched down the field on their next drive, going 74 yards for two-yard Colten Shumway to Jalan Troy touchdown connection
• On the next drive, Bridgewater again struck quickly, with Malcolm Anderson finding an open Freddie Watkins in the end zone with no time on the clock to head into the halftime break with the 28-10 lead

Third Quarter

• The Eagles held the Knights scoreless in the third quarter while scoring three more touchdowns
• With ten minutes on the clock, Ronald Robinson Jr. punched in a score with a four-yard run
• Aaron Moore added another, intercepting Shumway for the pick-six
• Malcolm Anderson found Albert Mensah for the ten-yard touchdown pass, putting Bridgewater up 49-10 before the fourth quarter

Fourth Quarter

• Anderson connected with Viante Tucker for the teams' final touchdown of the game
• Capping off the game, Bridgewater forced a safety, locking in the 58-10 win

Southern Virginia travels to Randolph-Macon on Saturday, September 17, to take on the Yellow Jackets in Ashland, Virginia. Game time is slated for 1 pm.
