Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia University field hockey team was defeated by the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College Saturday afternoon.
Randolph-Macon got off to a hot start, scoring four first quarter goals, including three in the first five minutes of the game.
The Knights bounced back, holding the Yellow Jackets to just one goal over the next two quarters, but struggled to get going offensively, failing to record a shot in the game.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kiera White did all she could in goal to keep her team in the game, making six saves on the day.
The Yellow Jackets got back on track in the fourth quarter, adding four more goals, including two by Summer Kujawa.
Southern Virginia will now prepare for their next match against Roanoke on Wednesday, September 14. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
