FERRUM, Va. – The Southern Virginia University Field Hockey team got their 2022 campaign underway on the road, facing off against the Ferrum College Panthers.
The Knights shot out of the gate in the first quarter, out-shooting their opponent 3-0. In the second quarter the Knights' dominance continued and the first half ended with a shot count of 6-1.
Southern Virginia's hard work on the offensive side of the ball was paid off in the third quarter with a goal scored by
Karenna Olson, her first of the season and of her career. The goal was assisted by
Ellie Marble who recorded her first ever assist in a Knights uniform.
Ferrum scored two goals in the final quarter to seal the comeback and the win.
Despite the loss, the Knights will look to build on a solid start to the season when they face SUNY Morrisville in Morrisville, New York this Saturday at 7:00 pm.
