BALTIMORE, Md. – The Southern Virginia University women's field hockey team earned their first victory of the season on the road over Notre Dame of Maryland University Friday night. In only the second meeting between the two schools, the Knights were able to come away with the victory with a score of 6-1, setting a new single game scoring record for most goals scored in a game.

Southern Virginia was able to get on the board early with a goal by Senior
Katie Smith, with the goal coming two minutes and fifty four seconds in the first quarter.
The Knights continued their offensive assault in the first outshooting the Gators 8-0 in the first quarter.
Southern Virginia notched two goals in the second quarter to go up 3-0 on Notre Dame of Maryland. Freshman Carley Hoffer scored the second goal of the game, while Junior
Karenna Olson scored the third.
The Gators got on the board for their first and only goal of the game when Nwanneka Udolisa put one past
Keira White, she was assisted on her goal by Jamie Ballard. Cutting the score to 4-1.
Southern Virginia responded after the Notre Dame goal, with one of their own when
Carly Hoffer scored her second goal of the game, putting the Knights out in front 4-1.
The offensive assault for Southern Virginia continued in the fourth, when
Carly Hoffer scored her third goal of the game, marking the first hat trick in her career and the first in program history, helping the Knights stretch their lead to four with a score of 5-1.
Southern Virginia secured the win with a score of 6-1 after
Elizabeth Sorto scored her first goal of the game.
