ASHLAND, VA. — The Southern Virginia University Women's soccer team traveled to Randolph-Macon College Thursday night for a non-conference matchup. The Yellow Jackets used a late goal to best the Knights 1-0.
How It Happened:
Randolph-Macon controlled the game from the beginning with an offensive flurry. In the first 27 minutes, the Yellow Jackets go off five shots along with three corner kick opportunities.
The Knights stayed in contention throughout the game with goalkeeper
Alyssa Trueman standing stall in between the pipes. Trueman did not allow one shot to get past her, recording six first-half saves.
Defense was the story line in the second half of action, with only two shots being recorded in 40 minutes of play.
Makinna Winterton got the team's first shot off in the 87
th minute of the game, but her shot was wide.
Both defenses anchored down the remainder of the game, with Randolph-Macon taking home the 1-0 victory.
