BUENA VISTA, VA - The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over the Mary Baldwin Fighting Squirrels.
Throughout the match, the Knights applied relentless offensive pressure. Benjamin Simister ignited the scoring in the 29th minute when Brock Hester raced down the goal line and delivered a precise pass to Simister, who found the back of the net following an offensive onslaught in the first half.
Southern Virginia dominated in shots, outshooting Mary Baldwin 12-1, and secured a 5-1 lead in corner kicks.
The offensive intensity continued into the second half, with the Knights netting their second goal within the opening minute, courtesy of Benjamin Simister, who found a gap beyond the goalkeeper's reach, extending their lead to 2-0.
Southern Virginia maintained the tempo, launching 11 additional shots before sealing the match. Tanner Gonder added the final goal, deflecting a shot off a defender, following a lengthy pass from Brock Hester, putting the game to rest.
Southern Virginia will wrap up home conference play when it hosts William Peace Univeristy for Senior Day on Saturday, October 21st with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m.
