Southern Virginia Men's.Soccer Falls To Pacers On Senior Day

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's soccer team played their final home game on Saturday night.

Both teams were deadlocked in the USA South standings coming into the game, and this meeting marked the seventh overall encounter between the two programs. The Pacers held the advantage in the series, having won six matches in a row.

William Peace got on the scoreboard right away with a goal in the third minute of the game, following a pass over the defenders' heads that led to an open opportunity for the Pacer's Abdul Qurneh.

Southern Virginia attempted to rally back but struggled to find their rhythm as William Peace applied significant offensive pressure, taking eight shots. However, the Knights' defense held strong, with Treyden Stringham making four crucial saves.

In the second half, the Pacers quickly added another goal in the first minute and extended their lead just 12 minutes later, ultimately securing their last goal 10 minutes after that.

The Knights managed to score their only goal when Calum Yule netted his first goal of the year, resulting in a final score of 4-1.

Southern Virginia will finish conference play as they travel to face Pfeiffer University on Wednesday, October 28, with the kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
