ROCKY MOUNT, NC. — The Southern Virginia University Football team encountered a challenging match against NC Wesleyan University, resulting in a final score of 7-34.
In the second quarter, Zachary Marquis delivered a 37-yard pass to himself, earning their first touchdown. The successful extra point by Braxtyn Green put them in an early lead, 7-0.
Shortly after, Braxtyn Green displayed precision with a 46-yard field goal, extending NC Wesleyan's lead to 10-0. Later in the second quarter, another field goal by Braxtyn Green from 51 yards out increased their advantage to 13-0 as the first half concluded.
The third quarter saw Anthony Byrd breaking through the Knight defense with a 5-yard run for a touchdown. Braxtyn Green's successful kick made it 20-0.
The final quarter proved to be challenging for Southern Virginia as Anthony Byrd of NC Wesleyan scored another touchdown with a 1-yard run, followed by a successful extra point by Braxtyn Green, making the score 27-0. The Bishops continued to press on, with Myles Martin scoring an 8-yard run and another successful kick by Braxtyn Green, resulting in a final score of 34-0.
Southern Virginia managed to get on the scoreboard late in the fourth quarter when
Isaiah Maxey connected with
Isaac McMullin for a 66-yard pass, and
Jarom Reed's successful kick brought the score to 7-34.
The Southern Virginia University Football team will regroup and prepare for their upcoming challenge against Greensboro College for the team's Homecoming Game on Saturday, October 28. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
