BUENA VISTA, VA - The Southern Virginia field hockey team dropped a home contest against the Gophers of Goucher College.

The Gophers made a statement early with a goal in the 1st minute of the game, but Southern Virginia rallied and held Goucher scoreless for the rest of the quarter.

Goucher scored twice in the second quarter and then again in the 3rd to make it 4-0, but the Knights started finding opportunities late in the game

At the start of the 4th quarter the Knights were able to get two penalty corners before capitalizing when Ellie Egnew's shot found the goal for her second of the season.

Makaila Gillardo was able to record twelve saves on the day, but it was not enough to stop the offensive from Goucher.

Southern Virginia goes on the road as they travel to play Wilson College on Wednesday, October 11th with game time set for 4:00 PM
