BREVARD, NC. — The Southern Virginia University football team faced a tough challenge against Brevard College on Saturday, resulting in a 28-49 loss.
The first quarter saw the Tornados taking an early lead with two touchdowns. Zackary Orr and Reggie Taylor II found the end zone for the visitors, putting them up 0-14.
The Knights responded in the second quarter when
Scott DuPaix scored a 3-yard rushing touchdown, narrowing the gap to 7-14. However, Brevard extended their lead to 7-21 before heading into halftime with a Chancellor Lee-Parker touchdown.
The third quarter witnessed another Tornado touchdown as Adam Douglas caught a 27-yard pass from Ethan Beamish, bringing the score to 7-28. Southern Virginia fought back with a 9-yard rushing touchdown by
Keven Williams, closing the gap to 14-28.
But Brevard quickly responded with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Beamish to Reggie Taylor II, increasing their lead to 14-35.
Chancellor Lee-Parker scored his second touchdown in the fourth quarter for Brevard College, making it 14-42. The Knights made a late-game push with two touchdowns, including a 1-yard run by
Alex Lanktree and a 10-yard pass from
Lachlan Haacke to
Isaac McMullin. However, Brevard sealed the victory with a 41-yard run by DJ Taylor, finishing the game at 28-49.
Southern Virginia will look to bounce back in their matchup against NC Wesleyan, traveling to Rocky Mount, NC, to take on the Bishops on Saturday, October 21 at 1 p.m.
