BEREA, OH. — Clearing the ball haunted the Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team (0-4) in Saturday's matchup against Baldwin Wallace (2-2) as the Yellow Jackets secured a 10-4 victory.
Baldwin Wallace used a strong defensive strategy to hold Southern Virginia scoreless through the first half of play and was led by three Olin Ferguson goals to go up 7-0.
Clay Haacke continues with his offensive efforts, recording his seventh goal of the year and the team's first of the game. Both teams traded goals for the remainder of the game, with Baldwin Wallace coming away with the win.
Haacke led all players with two goals on the day, while
Eric Norr and
Gabe King added one. Senior
Caleb Brodie did everything he could in the cage, recording a season-high 17 saves on 27 shots on goal.
Southern Virginia returns home next Saturday, March 11, to take on Grove City in the teams' first-ever encounter. The opening face-off is set for noon in Knight Stadium.
