BUENA VISTA, VA. — Southern Virginia University's women's lacrosse team had an eventful week with one loss and two wins in their games against top-class teams. The Knights suffered a tough defeat against the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday, but came back stronger against North Carolina Wesleyan and Pfeiffer University with remarkable wins on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively.
On Tuesday, April 11, the Knights had a difficult time against the University of Mary Washington, which had an early lead and dominated the game throughout. Southern Virginia University struggled to score against the opposition, with Maya Koebke and Kayla Sarazin of the University of Mary Washington scoring the first two goals within the first 13 minutes. The opposition kept up the pressure and added more goals, with Clare Madden, Katie Blair, Molly Daw, and Ashley Firesheets all getting on the scoresheet. Despite the loss,

On Tuesday, the Knights faced Pfeiffer University, with Southern Virginia putting on another impressive performance. The Falcons started strong, with Pfeiffer scoring the first two goals of the game within the first three minutes, but the Knights equalized shortly after. The game quickly turned in favor of Southern Virginia, who collected themselves and used a
Roxy LeBaron goal to spark a 9-1 scoring run, heading into the second quarter with a 9-3 lead. The Knights did not look back the remainder of the game, only allowing Pfeiffer to score one more goal, while Southern Virginia scored 12 more goals, ending the game with a 22-4 final score.
The Knights were led offensively by
Alissa Johnson, who finished her week with 12 points off eight goals and four assists.

Piper Searle followed, both recording nine points, with Baisden tallying five goals and three assists while Searle added eight goals and one assist.
